FAQs

How do I go about hiring equipment?

Easy - give us a ring (01437 760 999) or send us an e-mail and tell us what you'd like! We'll ask you when you want it for, what type, what size, etc. and can talk you through the options. If you're ringing in advance, we can do the paperwork by post. There's a quick form to fill in and a deposit needed. This can also be done face to face.

What are your opening hours?

10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.

What are your charges?

Please see our price list.

Do you hire out equipment to people not local to Pembrokeshire?

Catering for holidaymakers is our speciality - but we are certainly not limited to that, so local or not, please pop in!

Do you accept credit/debit cards?

Sorry - no (we wish we could!). We take cash or cheques and are happy to accept cheques through the post if you are ordering equipment in advance.

You're not at the Coach House any more. How do I find you?

No - both wheelchair and information are under one roof now, in the Basement of the Registry on Tower Hill. See here and scroll down a little for how to find us.

Can you deliver equipment?

Almost always yes, though it's best to give us a few days' notice as we don't have a full time driver. Please note there is a charge for delivery and collection of 27p per mile there and back.

We don't really know what we'll need yet. Can we come and look at the wheelchairs?

By all means. We're open between 10:00 and 3:30 every weekday. Please pop in and we'll show you what we have. We can't promise to hire to you the exact model you want if there is high demand, but we'll do our best. Mrs Valerie Stevenson is here every day except Wednesday and will be able to give you lots of advice.

We're arriving in Pembrokeshire on a Saturday. Do we have to wait until Monday for our equipment?

Not if you contact us in advance! We can usually deliver your equipment to your holiday residence on the Friday, though we do need the paperwork and payment done in advance. (Most hotels know about us and can do this for you if necessary.)

Can I get a Blue Badge from you?

Sorry, not any more. The Council took over the Blue Badge scheme in March 2008. You need to ring them on 01437 764551. You'll need your National Insurance number and your doctor will need to fill in a form, so give yourself plenty of time.

I want to register as disabled. How do I go about doing that?

Because there are so many types and levels of disability, there is no disabled versus not type of register. You don't need any type of certificate to hire equipment from us. If you need some general advice, you can make an appointment with Mrs Nicola Legg at PIPPA - the best time is a Tuesday or a Thursday between 11:00 and 3:00.

If you wish to park your car close to town to avoid having to walk long distances, for example, we recommend you ask your doctor to fill in a form to allow you to join the Blue Badge scheme (see above).

I've been given a massive form to fill in to get DLA (Disability Living Allowance). Can I get help with it?

Yes, you can. Give us a call on 01437 760 665 and make an appointment with Mrs Nicola Legg.

Why do you have two telephone numbers and which should I call?

Because we provide two different services: wheelchair hire and information. Wheelchair hire is 01437 760 999, and will come through to Mrs Valerie Stevenson. Information is 01437 760 665 and will come through to the rest of the staff.
